WaterWorld

Was I nervous about submerging my camera under water? Absolutely!!

   It was more than worth the effort as the results from this project were stunning. Believe it or not, no underwater photography equipment was used for this photo shoot at all! I simply purchased a 20 gallon fish tank from the local pet store, and set it on a stool that I had submerged into the shallow end of the pool. (About 6 inches of the fish tank was still above water, open side out.) I then fastened the tank to the stool using ratchet straps, and used some bricks to weigh the entire thing down so it didn't tip over. I had and air-tight underwater housing!!
   Next came the nerve wracking part: Putting my very expensive camera and lens into the fish tank that was mostly submerged into the pool, and placed the face of the lens right up against the glass.
  (Towels were used as a base for the bottom of the tank for stability and to protect the camera from any stray water drops.)
   Using a shutter release cable and with the camera on manual mode and manual focus, I merely played around with the settings until it was crystal clear and properly exposed.
   {Thanks again to Leah for the use of her pool and her underwater modeling techniques}
